Rubber SilanesSilanes that form polysulfidic cross-links (Si 69®, X 50-S®, Si 75® and X 75-S®) are ideally suited for products subjected to significant dynamic stresses. On the other hand, high stress resistance and low compression set call for silanes that build short-chained cross-links (Si 264, VP Si 163). Depending on the individual requirements, a suitable product can be selected. For mechanical rubber goods, especially our range of COUPSIL® products can be recommended. |

Applications | Properties / Suitability
Si 69® | General use silane for achieving good dynamic properties, low compression set and high abrasion resistance in mixtures containing white fillers.
Si 75® | Disulfidic silane for good dynamic properties, reduced compression set and high abrasion resistance of mixtures containing white fillers that carry silanol groups. Due to its disulfidic group, Si 75® is – compared to Si 69® – less sensitive towards high mixing temperatures and thus facilitates onward processing
Si 264 | Monosulfidic silane for achieving high abrasion resistance in mixtures containing precipitated silica. Si 264 prevents premature particle coverage and offers greater processing reliability than VP Si 163.
X 50-S® | General use silane for achieving improved dynamic properties, lower compression set and higher abrasion resistance in compounds containing white fillers.
X 75-S® | Disulfidic silane for good dynamic properties, low compression set and high abrasion resistance of mixtures containing white fillers that carry silanol groups. Due to ist disulfidic group, Si 75® is compared to Si 69® less sensitive towards high mixing temperatures and thus facilitates onward processing.
COUPSIL® 6109 | Precipitated silica (ULTRASIL® VN2) that has been pre-reacted with Si 69® and can be added as a powder to the mixture. Can be used as an alternative to Si 69® in combination with a high-surface precipitated silica. Due to the precipitated silicas lower specific surface, COUPSIL® 6109 leads to lower compression set versus COUPSIL® 8113.
VP COUPSIL® 6411 | A precipitated silica (ULTRASIL® VN 2) which has been pre-reacted with Si 264. Can be used in combination with a high-structure precipitated silica as an alternative to Si 264.
VP COUPSIL® 6508 | A precipitated silica (ULTRASIL® VN 2) which has been pre-reacted with VTEO for use in peroxide covered mixtures. Can be used in combination with a high-structure precipitated silica as an alternative to VTEO.
COUPSIL® 8113 | A precipitated silica (ULTRASIL® VN 3) that has been pre-reacted with Si 69®. Available in powder or granule form for easy addition to mixture. Can be used as an alternative to Si 69® in combination with a precipitated silica.
COUPSIL® 8113 GR | A precipitated silica (ULTRASIL® VN 3) that has been pre-reacted with Si 69®. Available in powder or granule form for easy addition to mixture. Can be used as an alternative to Si 69® in combination with a precipitated silica.
VP Si 163 | Mercaptosilane for high abrasion resistance and low compression set in mixtures containing white fillers that carry silanol groups. In case of high doses, care must be taken to not let the mixture vulcanize during the manufacturing or onward processing.
Si 266® | Disulfidic silane for good dynamic properties, low compression set and high abrasion resistance of mixtures containing white fillers. Due to its disulfidic group, Si 266® is compared to Si 75® – even less sensitive towards high mixing temperatures and thus significantly facilitates onward processing.
X 266-S® | Disulfidic silane for good dynamic porperties, low compression set and high abrasion resistance of mixtures containing white fillers that carry silanol groups. Due to its disulfidic group, X 266-S® compared to X 75-S® even less sensitive towards high mixing temperatures and thus significantly facilitates onward processing.
VP Si 363 | Reinforcing agent for compounds with precipitated silicas and white fillers for coloured and light couloured products for achieving optimum dynamic properties like reduced hysteresis, low heat build-up and low compression set.
VP Si 263 | Mercaptosilane for high abrasion resistance and low compression set in mixtures containing white fillers that carry silanol groups. In case of high doses, care must be taken to not let the mixture vulcanize during the manufacturing or onward processing.
