Degussa Increases Prices for Performance Silica Effective November 1, 2005

Degussa's Business Unit Advanced Fillers & Pigments will increase its prices for Performance Silica on a global basis by at least 90 EUR/t for standard grades and 150 EUR/t for specialities on November 1, 2005. Regional aspects will be taken into consideration.

Rapid and unprecedented cost increases for energy triggered a dramatic raise of related costs like raw materials and freight. These soaring increases have reached an extent which Degussa is no longer in a position to absorb, despite a top notch cost management and a higher efficiency in its production processes.
