Packaging

Road or rail silo transportation systems are nowadays the most common form of shipping carbon black to the end-user. Smaller intermediate bulk containers (IBC) and Flexible Intermediate Bulk containers (FIBC), as well as even smaller bags weighing either 5 kg or 25 kg are also available on pallets.

Carbon blacks supplied in powder form are delivered only in bags or FIBCs, with pigment blacks usually delivered in paper bags. This not only means additional savings in terms of packaging costs and easy disposal, but also keeps the product from becoming electrostatically charged. This last point is extremely important to paint and lacquer manufacturers.

The paper bags feature a polyethylene film lining for added protection against moisture build-up.

When ordered in large quantities, pigment blacks can also be delivered in special water-soluble paper bags: the pigment black together with the packaging can be added to the batch as one unit, avoiding further handling of the pigment black.
