Silanes are liquid products that are either added to the rubber compound in weighed amounts or dosed directly (injected) into the mixer. The following table provides an overview of the products that are available:

Handling liquid silanes requires special conditions in the mixing plant, which do not exist everywhere. Therefore, to simplify handling, the most important silanes are also available in a solid form mixed with Industrial black (N 330 grade) in a ratio of 1:1.

Our COUPSIL® range offers a different form of “solid” silanes. These are precipitated silicas that have already reacted with silane and are much easier to handle and process in either powder or granule form.

COFILL® 11 is an adhesion promoter that is used together with a formaldehyde donator such as hexamethylene tetramine (Hexa-K) and silicas in systems for steel cord adhesion or adhesion on textile cords. COFILL® 11 is a mixture of resorcinol and silica in the ratio of 1:1.

Applications
Functional organosilanes are used in a variety of products containing light fillers in the rubber industry. They provide compounds containing inactive, semi-active or even active fillers with an improved set of physical values and also considerably enhance the processability of highly active silicas. Depending on the area of application, we can supply products tailored to the customer's specific requirements.
As a rule, the choice of a suitable silane depends on the cross-linking system applied:
