Packaging

About 85% of global Carbon Black production is delivered in bulk (road and railway containers) and semi-bulk (steel bins, big bag). Pelletized Carbon Black is also available in 25 kg bags. FIBCs (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container) and IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) also come into play for shipping semi-bulk Carbon Black quantities.

FIBCs are made of polypropylene and available in weights ranging from 800 kg to 1200 kg. They keep their shape and stand upright to make optimum use of available packaging and shipping volume.

IBCs, on the other hand, are usually customer-specified steel containers and used only for pelletized or beaded product.

As a standard practice, bags used for packaging are made from polyethylene. In the case of flame blacks (Durex 0), paper bags are used. Our polyethylene bags have a melting point of 110°C (230°F), allowing, under specific circumstances, the packaged product to be added as is to the rubber compound mixing process. Please confirm with our Application Technology department whether this also applies to your specific application.
