Rubber Silanes

In the late 1970s, Si 69® in combination with ULTRASIL® VN3 or VN2 grade silicas was used in truck tires in the tread and subtread compounds and in tire carcasses to reduce the heat built-up in the tire and thus increase its longevity. Since the early 1990s, this silica/silane system has been used more and more in the manufacture of automobile tire treads. Used this way, rolling resistance can be reduced, which in turn reduces fuel consumption by up to 5% per car. Unlike tires that have only rubber black fillers, tires produced with silica/silane technology have a considerably improved wet grip, without reduced service life.

The new generation of silica tires fulfills the highest safety standards. The ecological and safety benefits are today used in summer, winter and all-season tires.

Applications Properties / Suitability
Si 69® A traditional reinforcing agent in tires to reduce heat built-up, reduce rolling resistance and improve the tires´ wet grip
Si 75® Disulfidic silane used to reduce heat built-up, rolling resistance and to improve wet grip. Compared with Si 69® / X 50-S®, these products are less sensitive to mixing and processing temperatures and thus it becomes easier to process mixing.
X 50-S® Classic reinforcing agent for tires in combination with precipitated silica to reduce heat built-up and rolling resistance and improve the tires wet grip.
X 75-S® Disulfidic silane used to reduce heat built-up, rolling resistance and to improve wet grip. Compared with Si 69® / X 50-S®, these products are less sensitive to mixing and processing temperatures an thus it becomes still easier to process mixing.
COUPSIL® 8113 A precipitated silica (ULTRASIL® VN 3) that has been pre-reacted with Si 69®. Available in powder or granule form. Can be used as an alternative to Si 69® in combination with a high-surface precipitated silica.
